Hi all,

I am new member on here with my second account having got one when i bought my Octy a few years ago and never writing down the password.

My VRS (62k) has suffered from an oil pump failure (mostly caused by me putting off a service since before christmas due to a lack of funds! The lack of oil has caused damage to the bottom end and i have told the garage not to go any further as it will become an uneconomical repair!

To say I am gutted is an understatement and the thought of having to drive my other halfs bright green Corsa to Lincoln and back every week isn't filling me with happiness either!

I am now after some advice...

Do I sell the car as it is with a knackered engine or do i split it down and sell the bits?? is there even a real market for Mk1 VRS parts anymore??

Does anyone one here know of anyone who may be interested?

The car is a silver 2004 model with a personal plate and is standard. In very good condition on the outside apart from 2 minor car park dents.

As much as I love the car I am not willing to put a second hand engine in it, mainly because the repair billis will end up being as much as the car is worth.

Any advice would be good right now!

Not worth owt without a working engine and parts prices have gone down. I know that you don't want to put another engine in but I think that's your best bet. I know billy has a bare engine for £400 in the for sale section and that he's owned the car from new and has always been ott with matinance

As for breaking mate if there is no mods then the std parts are not gonna bring much in and youll be struggling to get shut n like me will be throwing bits away after a while like I did with an old one I had forrl the gearbox as it was lsdd lol.

Engines are all over n looking on ebay I think I am asking ok money but might get one cheaper if funds are tight. I know mine is good and the history hence the price.

Turbo might not last either if starved of oil?

I realised the turbo was probably gonna be buggered as well as any thing up top, especially as the bottom end is f**ked!

I just cant justify spending the cash to replace a whole lump, I already have a nice labour bill to pay.

It was time to grow up and buy a diesel anyway!

Although with how cheap these cars are, I reckon I'd make more breaking mine? I want a new car, but can't bare to give mine away

So glad to hear that VRS part prices are on their A*$e. Tomorrow I will be the proud owner of an oil pump and strainer as the garage are unable to return them!
