Pre delivery blues

Featured Replies

Well its two day till we get my wife's Citigo on the 1st March. As mentioned in previous posts we are happy with a 13 plate. I'm more excited that the other half? However, I'm getting disheartened with the sales team. The sales person who sold us the car no longer works for the dealer. The salesman who took over did phone me to introduce himself a few weeks ago. when we ordered the car I asked sales for some good price on accessories. When they gave me the prices I had already asked the parts department who gave me a far better price (so guess who got the sale) Since then I have had to chase him via email and phone to get any information on what is going on. I asked several weeks ago for the cornering fogs, single door opening and coming home/leaving lights to be coded to the car. Yet last week he had not even spoken to service to organise it (so i bet I get the 'sorry we could not do that sir!') I was supposed to be given the choice of 13 registrations when they came to the dealer. in the end I have gone up and asked to choose one. I now only want to deal with the sales manager who have been apologetic. I am still waiting for confirmation that all is in stock and ready to pick up at 15:00 of Friday?

I know a Citigo is not a top of the range £30K plus car but I would have thought they could have at least responded with the 'we are working on it' email

Grumpy from Hampshire!!!!

Too right - and you may return next year for that top of the range Superb or Yeti.

Bloody dealers!

we have had a similar problem at our dealer. I have had to phone today to see if we were still picking up her car on sat and was told that it is due in the next 48 hours and it is more likely to be monday or tuesday.

Again the sales guy we dealt with left a week after selling us the car.

Hampshire you say? Sounds like Garlands communication through and through to me.

I had one call from ordering from them and that was to say its in the UK come and sign the paperwork

Same here on my Yeti and the wife's VW Up. A courtesy update call every so often is all it would take to keep us customers happy.

Don't they understand the John Lewis way?

Good Customer Service = Repeat Business - period!

Sounds like you need a better dealer next time.

I use Preston Motors for this reason.

They sponsor this forum, they are small enough to care and they do good prices too. :)

Plus there is no daft chain of people to deal with, the guy over the salesman owns it and is there most days.

Damn - only found out about Preston Motors after Yeti purchase. Will know where to try first next time.

Definitely speaking to Preston when I'm looking at mk3 Octy vrs diesel in a couple of years

dealers vary sooo much.

Well I sent an email first thing this morning asking for ANOTHER update to confirm everything was on track. An hour or so later i get a phone call from the sales disrep. Oh we still don't have your car? i did say last week I would keep you informed!. It might be in today or tomorrow so can't do it till next week?? Oh I have to go my next appointment is here! he said. ARRRRGH. Why did he not update me on Monday or Tuesday or Wednesday to say things are looking doggy or even get someone else to email, phone ore even text!

Me and the better half had planned a nice weekend break with the car several weeks ago. I even told the dealer to keep me informed fo that reason?

I am so close to telling them to cancle the order and go elsewhere. So preston motors is one to contact?

If you've already paid a deposit and the car is due soon it seems a bit counter productive, even though it's annoying.

They should know when the car will arrive.

Lee @ Preston has always kept me informed on the ones I've bought there (eight) and even when still in build the estimates have been pretty close as they can tell from experience and the info on the system showing where the car is.

Read my PM before you cancel buddy!

Thanks for the advice Estorilblue and others. A bit of a heat of the moment statement.

I have waited since the 10th Dec so a couple more days can't hurt much more!!!!!!!!!

I'm not having a good year even though I'm not (or maybe I am) superstitious? This is just the icing on the cake. It's a shame as I love my Ocky and cant wait to bond with the Citigo. However things like this do leave a nasty taste in my mouth and i don't forget things like this very easy?

Name and shame the dealer

I will hold back on the dealer at the moment pending what happens next?

So 5 hours after the disrep had phoned no call back? I then phone the sales manager and politely complain. At this point I am told my car has arrived and they will get one of the service team to PDI my car this evening. Oh we can't do the cornering fogs and coming leaving lights until they get the correct coding info from Skoda which may take a few days? So nothing had been done since I asked them weeks ago?

So at this point I believe we can pick up the car at 17:30 tomorrow night. However I'm not holding my breath? (I would prefer to have the car done correctly rather than rushed) We had planned to go away for a nice quiet weekend away with the car but have now cancelled as we just can't rely on it being ready?

Well, we collected the Citigo today. To dark to take pic's today but will have a go during the bonding session tomorrow. the Disrep did apologise for the problems and offered a token gesture. No coding for cornering fogs or coming/leaving home lights? Apparently Skoda UK said it can't be done and would invalidate the warranty?? (they would not give me a copy of what Skoda UK said).

Have only driven 12 miles so far but the Citigo is FAB, Dealer Not so?
