tdi oil

Featured Replies

Just checking is 5w 40 fully synthetci oil good for my 2002 octavia tdi , Its done 138k miles ?

You need oil which meets the VAG spec for the service interval you are running.... So to start the ball rolling - are you fixed (10k) or variable (up to 30k)

How do i know which service interval my car is 10k or 30k ???

I guess you have just bought the car? If so check the service log book and see if it was every 10k/1year or if the interval was up to 30k miles.

If fixed, then VW505 spec will be fine. Try TPS - about £20 for 5 litres of Quantum, iirc.

You guess right !!! i have had the car 2 weeks nearly, I am very impressed with it.

I would say 10k, Personaly i intend to change the oil every 6 months anyway.

90 / 110 or the 130? The former are fine for 505, but the latter is a PD and needs a different type of oil (I think?)

Eitherway your log book should tell you the VW spec of the oil required.

Before you ask:

90 = TDI

110 = TDI

130 = TDI

Welcome to Briskoda btw. Have a read on here (and a search) and you will soon discover all the quirks the mk1 Octy has. A good starting point as a new owner is to check for compost at the rear of the front wheel arch liners (this is where the scuttle panel area drains through).

Mine is a 110 bhp engine.

VW505 spec oil should be fine for you then.

Just go to tps or your local dealer with your reg number and they can sell you the right one, don't bother with halfords or the like as quite often the dealer stuff is cheaper lol
