Coolant / thermostat, bottom hose cold.....

Recommended Posts

As in the title, changed all the breather pipes today and decided to change the stat while I had access to it.

It has taken a fair bit of coolant, but the bottom rad hose that runs to the stat housing is more or less cold and feels as if it has no coolant in it.

The top hose is hot, the temp gauge is at 90, VCDS is reading between 92-98 deg once I have taken it for a little run.

Any ideas?

You may have an air lock after fitting the stat.

Take the header tank cap off put the AC/heater on full hot, start the car keep the rpm's up to 3000ish & bring the engine up to normal temp. Keep it running for 5 mins or so allow to cool & top up coolant if necessary.
