0% VAT by Skoda

Featured Replies

Just in case there are people in the market for a new Skoda but haven't yet decided, please be aware of the 0% offers Skoda currently have until the end of March 2013. It's across the Skoda range but in particular its available on the diesel Superb saloons and petrol Superb estates.

http://www.skoda.co.uk/GBR/finance/offers/noVAT/Pages/default.aspx

Having just taken delivery of a Superb saloon Elegance Greenline II on March 1st utilizing this offer, I can say its genuine and they didn't try to take the value back by offering a poor trade in value on the part exchange.

A great time to buy!

Yes this is true, i also got the 0% VAT offer on my superb which i ordered in December and picked it up in January, I think you 0% VAT on petrol & Diesel hatch's and only petrol on the estate. very good offer as if it not been on i would have been buying second hand.

I only started paying attention to Skoda when I bought my superb two years ago last December. I now tend to notice their ads in mags and papers, and think I can safely say that in that 2 1/4 years, Skoda have always had a no VAT offer on.

Slight changes on what cars qualify, but I think it's safe to say, that come April 1st it will still be there! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Strictly speaking, it's not a no vat offer as that would be illegal.

It's really just a 20% discount

Yeah that bugs me when they advertise this like 0% Vat, If you get your invoice and it has vat on it are they breaking their terms of advertisement...........

Oh dear......

Think the terms and conditions make it quite clear?

Terms and Conditions apply.

* Reduction equivalent to 20% VAT applied to original base price including factory fitted optional extras available on selected models (exclusions apply). VAT applies to reduced price. Finance is not required to obtain no VAT offer. Prices and specifications are accurate at time of print. Offers may be varied or withdrawn at any time and are not available in conjunction with any other offer. Retail sales only. Participating retailers only. Subject to availability on orders placed before the 31st March 2013.

Can't see what the issue is really. All I'm interested in is what it costs to swap my old car for a new one, if some offer no matter how it's discribed means I pay less then that's all I'm interested in.

As Stevehg says it varies across the different models and ranges, Yeti and Rapid are not included at the moment and what the offer applies to is reviewed ever quarter so may change at the end of this month. as an example when I bought by 1st Octy in Sepember 2011 the VAT back offer only applied to the petrol models, while for at least the last 6 month this had been extended to include deisels as well.

No Doubt littleade that the T & C's make it clear and the offer is excellent its just the form of advertisement that bugs me and its not just exclusive to Skoda at all, it basically says one thing but it is actually something else and I can't understand why they need to do it, only the most dimwitted person will think they are actually not paying VAT.

Many years ago when I worked in retail the company I worked for used to advertise this and the amount of nuggets who tried to refuse to pay the vat on the invoice was staggering, they could not comprehend the T & C's

Yes you're right. My interpretation on this was simply that as I had to have a diesel for the economy/miles/CO2 etc, it had to be the saloon for me. (Like its not big enough anyway!)

It's really just a 20% discount

Just to be pedantic (not for the first time), it's a 16.67% discount.

yeah they are huge and the cabin and boot space is superb, don't know why there is a controversy over the VAT offer that is what SUK called it so that is how we refer to it simple's

Yes, and the point of this post is to highlight the saving (what ever it amounts to, what ever the terms and conditions) to those in the market, or about to be.

Quite correct.

Sincere apologies for having a view, if you guys are gonna stamp on everybody that's new having a view then this ain't the place for me, enjoy your cars

Hi Steve

That's pretty much how forums work. You are entitled to your view, others theirs. As long as it doesn't deteriorate into a slanging match then that's ok as it's a free society.

My initial 'oh dear' was in response to the VAT offer discussion being raised again. You being new, wouldn't have realised its been raised before on briskoda numerous times all over the place. Most people on here seem to think its fine, this might not represent the wider buying public though.

By the way if you thought this was being stamped on, start a post about 'legality of HID's' or 'Winter Tyres are rubbish', or 'I don't need a spare wheel' etc etc and see how polarising we can be ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Steve :)

Can anyone tell me if the 0% APR Can also be used with the 0% VAT offer on the Greenline salon models, Thanks

i think that the 0% APR offer only applies to the superb hatch petrol & diesel elegance & l&K but the estate is only available with petrol engines and elegance and l&k

As I understand it, 0% APR is available as well as 0% VAT within the same deal. However, it's the T and Cs you should read or ring them direct. Happy shopping!

Just a quick one chaps, a quick breakdown for you, believe me I am in no way being patronising.

0% VAT

All Superb Hatch - petrol and diesel

Superb Estate - petrol only

0% APR

Superb Hatch - Elegance and L&K only - but ALL engines

Superb Estate - Elegance and L&K only - petrol engine only

The 0% APR is only available on the above models when financing a maximum of 50% up to 2 years.

Hope this helps and enjoy your cars

Thanks for the Replies, So a Greenline Elegance hatch would be included in 0% APR then ?

Sorry you think that as it was not my intention I forgot to a winking smiley face.

It's just an advertising ploy Steve, that's all. They've probably decided the public whether dimwitted or otherwise would be more likely to visit a showroom if the headline infered you'd avoid paying the VAT, which no one likes paying anyway, rather than quoting a % discount at 16. whatever percent as it's far more eyecatching which is what advertising is all about. When I bought mine it was made clear the discount was the equivelent of the VAT off the basic price of the car and that VAT would actually appear on my invoice. I just thanked them for giving me a nice healthy wad off the price, I wasn't a bit interested in how they did it.

The superb is great value for money but with the vat equivalent reduction and some further haggling the £6k saved on our 170 4x4 l&k saloon you couldn't really say no. We ended up selling our old car privately but the dealer offered as much as the Audi dealer we went to so as was mentioned above they weren't trying to recoup the discount via the part ex valuation.

Anyone considering a new superb should snap one up:-)

Hi Veesix

Skoda UK factor in this discount in their list pricing as they continually offer this kind of deal, hence dealers will not try and claw it back on part ex as its a Skoda UK supported discount. There is still the potential to negotiate with dealers on top of VAT offer.

Skoda are THE most profitable division within VAG.

Nothing negative about this post, personally I applaud their marketing. Private buyers feel happy about discount level, dealers are happy (ish) as there is less erosion of their discount for most private sale purchases, and on cars in demand like diesel estates etc where they dont include the offer, they make more margin. It certainly appears to be working, and along with the design ethos of more interior room than competitors is making Skoda the fastest growing part of VAG, especially in Asia.

Cheers

Steve

I personally applaud SUK's Zero vat ( 20% ( 16.7%)) discount & 0% finance, without this i could not have afforded my Octy vRS.

50% deposit as described above to get 0% finance, & the reduction brought the price down to just over £18K from close to £22K for the spec i wanted.

We had a new person turn up to a Maidstone meet who had a budget to buy a big Merc / Jag, had a ride then drive of a Superb & decided to add this car to his list, specced the 3 cars up to almost the same & found the price of the Superb was just over half the price of the other models. Chose the top spec model & loaded it, took his choice to a Skoda dealer & walked away with an even bigger smile on his face when told there was a further £5k off the price with the vat deal. HIs eventual car was far better specced than either of the other cars could offer & it came in at less than half the price of the nearest alternative.
