Diesel Economy & Performance- Amazed again

Featured Replies

Just completed a quick blast through France from the Spanish border to Calais in the Octy L&K estate. Its got the 110 engine mapped by Jabba to 164 bhp

We had 3 adults in the car, two 14 year olds, All our luggage + loads of wine etc

The read out on the comuter at Calais was as follows

Distance 760 Miles

Average speed for the journey 84 mph

Mpg 39.6

not bad at all

Nice average :D

It's staggering...

I'm surprised at how much more grunt and economy my Pd130 engine has after a service last week.......

now returning (over a mixed up/downhill city centre 12 mile commute) 67.1mpg........

Basically I ran the car at around an indicated 110 wherever possible which it can hold all day although I did spot it creeping up to 120 a couple of times.

Normally I set the cruise so I could have held a constant 110 but I never feel safe driving long distances at night with cruise on. Constantly monitroring the speed gives you something to concentrate on during the long night stretches between tolls, I worry with it on it might increase the tendancy to nod off

Bet you were gutted it didn't make 40mpg at a fairly constant 110mph (!)
