Would be their Warranty Cover if any paid out on a gubbed engine,

not from Skoda.

£399 and 'claimed' 25 hp increase.

get the spark plugs checked and a compression test done... I had similar, if you search my content you will see my essay...

  • injectors are a common issue which cause misfires, dealers keep stum on the cause as they dont want people to think bad of the cars, tsi engines are bad for it

  • Try changing them yourself. After losing the tips of your fingers and knuckles, you'll gladly pay it Glad to hear it sorted your car.

Did you pay the £112.70 or do them yourself :giggle:?

Suppose I was lucky. They only charged me £79 :o

sounds like mine when the fuel pump went, missed and went to limp mode then came out a few times then done it one day and never recovered

Loving the GT4 in your Sig pic. Thats a car i have always wanted.

Had my car put back to standard at Skoda and new plugs fitted. Absolutely zero issues now, regardless of how hard it's driven.

I'm not convinced the REVO software is actually any good. It's not going back on.

Just had the infamous misfire on my VRS! Warm engine drove about 15 miles like a civilized person got to a private bit of road near my home gave it some welly and over around 3-4k got the misfires, EML flashed a few times and then for about 10 seconds after. No limp mode though.

Runs fine when driving normally but as soon as I try to give it some theres a little misfire now and again.

Just passed the first MOT no problem, just out of Skoda Warranty at 42,000 odd. :wall:  Changed the spark plugs not so long ago to the NGK BKR7EIX - 2667 too, relying on a 1 year warranty that from the dealer to cover any bad news. *which should be fun considering its in Bradford and I'm in the depths of South Wales)

If anyone has any bright ideas they'd be greatly appreciated

damn poor timing :( guess all you can do is take it back to where you bought it from... unless you want to try a local dealer on "goodwill" as its just out of warrenty? a quick call to skoda UK mentioning this site and the recurrant misfire problems that are well documented as a common problem with the car, and see if they will help?

They obviously changed the plugs under warranty but i was surprised to see an invoice for £112.70 if i was payin.

Eh? Wow.

So thats £20 a plug and £32 an hour labour? Im guessin.

I know some plugs are more expensive than others (which iv never understood) but £20! Haha.

The standard Twincharger Plugs are £12.66 RRP Each and can be cheaper.

The DENSO 4 Pack of Iridium Plugs, SKJ20CR-A8#4  i use are £65 including VAT, that is Trade Price at a Motor Factors.

Spark plugs are a consumable and not covered by warranty.  Mine went at 9000 miles and I had to pay.

Tony

I dont see why.

If its in warranty and been serviced with accordance to their requirements, i dont see why it should be misfiring.

I certainly wouldnt pay it without abit of a debate first haha. Especially at £112. Thats a rediculous price

Spark Plugs are consumables.

The Skoda Warranty clearly says that.

One plug in cylinder 3 burning out is not,

that is an Engine Design and management issue,

As Skoda well know.

& it is about time Skoda & other VAG Dealerships caught on.

Bit of an update on my situation!

Got in touch with the local Skoda dealer/garage, they're having it for the day on Thursday to run some diagnostics on it (for which I have to fork out £84) then taking the findings to the dealership I got the car from to see if they'll pay for the repairs.

Hopefully they will, if not i'm just hoping that it isn't expensive... or that I can do it myself...

Who Underwrites the Warranty?

Why do you have to go to the Dealer you purchased it from to see if they will pay, are they Providing the Warranty and its not with a Company that will look at the Report you get after paying out £84?

After the Diagnostics which takes 5 minutes to see which cylinder/s is Misfiring

there are the Coils and Plugs to check, 20 minutes.

Things you hope it is not,

is Valves or Cylinders/rings, compression or lack of which is the big concern.

Fingers crossed just a minor clitch

This is one of the very issues that mine is going soon.

After the car being in and out it's finally in for good! Its been a nightmare between the dealer I bought it from messing up the mileage on the invoice and the warranty company being fussy but there's a new engine going in. I'm not sure what is actually wrong with it (and neither do Skoda by the sounds of it) I guess I'll find out when I pick it up tomorrow.

Any update?

Any update?

Yeah, it's using oil ........ :giggle:

Misfire  1.4 tsi thread.

jonny boy,

Have you punted on your previously remapped oil burner to some unsuspecting person?

I've had a new engine in, but, the garage was completely useless with regards to paperwork and information. When I went to pick her up I was greeted by the sales team because after sales and services had gone home. They had no idea what was going on and took my money for the air con clean and that was the only paperwork I had.

I have no news of a warranty on the new unit, and I have no idea what went wrong with the old one, although I was told if I had paid 'even £50' towards the new engine if have had the standard 2 year parts warranty. Which after my car being in and out a good 5-6 times I thought was ridiculous. I've been in contact with the manager of the garage and I've been given the 'I'll look into it' so if I don't hear from them this week I may pay them a visit instead. I have got a 2 year warranty on the gearbox oil change recall though!

Just get your paperwork from Skoda UK Customer Services,

they have the Invoices ect, ask them for copies for future buyers of your car,

& they need to provide the Letter for the DVLA.

They can tell you what Warranty Extension and Expenses the are recompensing you with.

You are entitled to these.

The Dealership was just doing the work Skoda Paid them for,

so tell Skoda UK Customer Services about the unprofessional behaviour you got from the Dealership.

Hopefully all is well now with your car.

PS

 Rather Important,

CAN YOU EXPLAIN ABOUT THE 2 YEAR WARRANTY ON THE DSG 'SERVICE CAMPAIGN WORK',

Did you pay for it or something,  where did the 2 year Warranty come from?

Who told you that?

Have you actually raised a Case No via Skoda UK Customer Services? Use the Skoda.co.uk website and the contact section, describe your history to them, explaining the Skoda Dealer has fitted a New - recon engine and that you require a Skoda 1 year extended Warranty for the Unit.

Where and How did you get a 2 year warranty for the DSG - who issued it and has it been sent to you via Skoda UK?

If Skoda were prepared to fund a new engine for  you, then you should also be able to get a refund on the previous examination work.

The Skoda Garage that did the engine replacement, should have marked up the Service book at the back ,referencing the date, mileage the change took place.

Hi All,

Im having this trouble with my VRS, they have replaced plugs and said there was a misfire recorded on cyl 3. Drove it this morning and it still feels like its missing while im stationary in traffic. Needless to say its gone back in today, and yet again im in a loan car.

Id be interested to know if its always the same cyl on everyone else's engines that experiencing this.

Really starting to question Skoda's reliability, i thought this was something that had improved lots since the old days of Skoda.
