I've just noticed the horn on my car does not work with ignition off however works with ignition on?

I only noticed this as I sat outside waiting for my mum turned engine off to save some fuel as you do. Went to peep peep and nothing.

why would you need to use it if you're not driving? It's a warning device, not a 'hurry up mum I'm sat waiting' device.

Yep. It's illegal to sound your horn when stationary on the road, and illegal to use your horn at all in built up areas between 23.30 and 07.00.

dont think ive ever owned a car or bike with a horn that worked with the ignition off? there normally wired on a switched live so with the ignition off...no juice.

To return to the original point, all my previous cars could sound the horn with the ignition off and flash the high beam. It has saved me getting reversed into while sat in the car in the past. It has crossed my mind as to whether it can be activated with vcds

All vag cars me abd my dad have ever owned the horn doesnt work when ignition is off. I wouldnt expect it being a vcds changable item as the electrics arent live for horn.

If the engine is running and the car is stationary and the driver is holding the phone, you can be charged. and how do you use hands free when driving then.

I've always found that it helps to be turned on in order to get the horn...
