Hi guys, the black gigaros are looking worse for wear and in need of some TLC so they are going to a powder coating specialist next week to be completely redone.

The only downside is that I will lose the diamond cut chrome edge, but I don't mind. Here are my options:

-Gloss Black with Metallic Bits (this is most similar to standard)

-Gloss Black (no metallic, just shiny black)

-Matt Black - I think this would look pretty awesome but not sure

-Some other colour...suggestions?

Please let me know what you think and any other suggestions for colours? The vRS is red.

I voted for another color, maybe for a scheme that fits your car better.

How about black with red details :)?

White, or Blue, or Yellow, or Urban Camo B)

Stay traditional ....silver.....but a modern hyper silver ,almost chrome.

Avoid matt black, they'll never look clean without any shine on them.

Gloss Black will make it easy for you to touch them up with a little Gloss Black Enamel when they are chipped or kerbed by accident or by a careless tyre fitter.

Even just by a wheel nut socket slipping.

I'd love black with a slight red rim but because they are being powder coated they will be all one colour.

Gloss black sounds good, but how about a gunmetal grey metallic?

On the other hand I haven't got a clue about art and what looks good until I see it :(

I'd like to avoid gunmetal, I think it would probably look a bit dirty all the time.

I'm the same though, can't decide because I want to see what it will look like on the car!

I think keep them the same, I like them how they are  .

The more pictures I look at the more I like just flat black with gloss, no metallic. Gives a finish like this:

They look really smart, pictures borrowed from cliosport.net

Gloss black for me. May I enquire how much you're being charged? I was quoted £120 +vat per wheel to repair the two the missus kerbed!!!!!!!! But that was for an exact refurb keeping the diamond cut edge. Seemed steep for that.

Gloss black, but then again I am biased. Used to have satin black OZ Superturismo GT's on my old Astra VXR, never looked clean due to the finish.

If you fancy something different though, I think white would look awesome with red, just need to get plenty of polish/sealant on them before fitting so they are easier to clean.

I am being charged 280 for all tyres to be removed, taken back to bare metal, powder coated in any colour then tyres refitted and rebalanced within 24 hours.

That is very very cheap & if that is a legit company charging VAT they can surely not be making much profit @ £70 a wheel.

£59 plus vat.

Just materials for , bead blasting, prep, coating, removal fitting, balance weight and labour costs almost that.

Hope they come out OK.

how about reversing the layout of the silver and black, a sort of black with silver bits

F&M Powder Coating in Preston, been going a long while I believe and have done lots of projects by the looks of things.

Seems to be good.

I could never have done them at prices like that and made money.

It was 50 an alloy if you don't have to leave the car with them (had spare wheels)

That is what makes what you are getting done for £70 per wheel a steal.

Getting a tyre fitter to refit & not damage and do a good balance is always a lottery,

always best to be done by the refinishers them self & if not nicely done , no messing about or blaming others.

I love 'Much cheapness' when available.
