Lambda Problems

Featured Replies

Yesterday I was able to fix my ABS ( a blown fuse over the battery). Now I have to solve my lambda problems and I need your help.

I changed the lambda but I thought that i bought the wrong one because the DTC #17584 (Bank1: O2S (Lambda) Correction Behind Catalyst: Control Limit Reached) it's a new error.

I have a Skoda Fabia 2001 1.4, 16V, 100BHP, AUB.

I read somewhere that there's a problem with early fabia's and that there is a especial ECU coding to eliminate the lambda heater problem.

Thanks!

I have a list of ECU codes at work, I am off at the moment but will try to remember to bring them home with me.

To re-code go into engine electronics 01, make anote of the coding it already has, then into code control unit 07 and enter the code that I intend to post later on. We found on the early Fabias that when they showed the un eraseable 18020 fault, that the air con did not work either. Re-coding sorted this out.

Which probe did you change as that fault is related to probe 2 after the cat.

But you do also have a fault with probe 1 so id think it would need a pair.

The car only have one lambda sensor and it's after the cat. I think that I bought the wrong one. I'm still investigating.

I'm looking for a universal sensor but not from europe(better in the states). I'm from the caribean and it's very difficult for me to get the parts from there . I looked on ebay but I undertstand that the sensor must be made of Zirconia.

You car has two, the first one is in the exhaust manifold. If any car only has one lambda probe it will be before the cat. But yours has two.

ehhhhhhhhhhh! OK I'll check that!

I changed the one after the cat.

Can be two zirconia universal 4 wire sensor?

Where can I buy them?

Some of the first lambda probes are a 5/6 wire broadband probe so be carefull with getting non genuine parts.

OK

I just need the rear one!

I thought you said you had changed the rear one?

  • Author

yeah and the error comes from the rear one.

or not?

The fault with the second probe may well be down to a fault with the front one. s you have a fault with the front probe anyhow i'd change that one before changing the rear again.

fordfan!

I'm wating to for the codes you told me!

Sorry

codes as follows

00061 petrol engine and air con

00071 petrol engine ABS and air con

00005 diesel engine and air con

00006 diesel engine air con and ABS

On skoda equipment 01 engine electronics (note coding if you have to change back), 07 code control unit, enter code and confirm.

Your code should be 00071

Lambda S1 B1 is the pre-cat lambda. Recently found this out when I got the fault on my Leon - the wires had melted and were causing an intermittant short!

With this probe, I would NOT recommend the fitment of non-standard part, as this is the probe that tells the engine if it's fuelling right.
