Continental tyres- AO,MO or XL?

Featured Replies

Sorry I need to replace one tyre and I am looking to match the Conti's that are on the car but I can't see which range I have. I am a bit baffled by the difference in the ranges. What one should I go for?

AO and MO are manufacturer approvals.

XL is a weight rating related item, with reinforced sidewalls.

If your current tyres are not XL, then don't go for those.

AO and MO are if I remember correctly Audi and Merc, so either should be fine.

Thats great thanks, seems a bit weird the difference between what seems the same tyre on the eu rating.

It is crazy - however if you look at the EU ratings for the Audi and Merc versions of the tyres you will find differences between them and them and the "standard" tyre.

I recently purchased 2 Conti SC5's for my car - the "standard" version. This has an EU A rating for wet stopping - however the Audi and Merc versions don't. General feeling is that there is a compound difference between the standard tyre and the manufacturer approved version.
