Skoda Run out of Oil Filters in the UK

Featured Replies

My Octavia is due to go for service to the Skoda Dealers in Leeds tomorrow morning. This afternoon I got a phone call from Service reception to say that Skoda have run out of oil filters for the 1.2 (which mine is) and the 1.4 petrols. There are none in the Country and there will be a wait of about 2 weeks to get some more..hencing servicing cancelled.

Now forgive me if I sound a bit cynical here and I dont know why but I dont believe them.. ...Am I wrong in casting aspersions in their direction??..Skoda Customer services have closed for the day so hoping someone on here can help?..I did suggest getting one from the local VW dealer but that fell on deaf ears......Your help would be appreciated..Thanks

Eurocarparts, TPS, etc etc. Can you get one from there for them?

sounds irregular, a company in south Wales makes a lot of major brand filters, they use our ink for printing them. As ljp01 says, why not get one from a factors or from a VW, Seat or even an Audi dealership?

I bet they just have a few people off sick.

Sounds bobbins to me. Running out of a basic £3 (trade ex VAT) part?

I'd phone DMK Wakefield with an anonymous parts enquiry then perhaps Skoda Mansfield or Sheffield to check this.

If not some genuine ones on ebay. I now buy genuine parts and oil off the bay at 50% less than what DMK used to charge me!

My experience is that cheap + "genuine" + Ebay = Chinese counterfeit

Maybe I've just been unlucky!

Thanks guys....Have been making enquiries this morning. Appears there has been supply problems for which SUK has issued a service bulletin to all dealers, although not all dealers have been affected. Appears DMK dont swap parts between branches either which adds to the problem. Interestingly SUK have offered the dealers an alternative part to use which leak when fitted (E-Bay????)...To be fair since I spoke to the Service Manager first thing this morning they have bent over backwards to sort it out and are servicing it today as planned.

The reply from SUK is less impressive, they denied all knowledge of this situation (despite a service bulletin they issued) promised to make further enquiries and ring me back........guess what??

Once again thanks for your help

Good result then paully.
