Dealer fob off?

Featured Replies

Contacted SG Smith (Croydon) to ask about the under seat storage draw and fitting. Answer --- Sorry Sir that's a factory fit option only, can't be retro fitted!

Have I missed something as I've read many threads in this fine forum regarding the subject or is the dealer misinformed, or indeed fobbing me off?

Yes I know the draws are quite small and a cheaper alternative is a simple plastic box but I'm a stickler for genuine fitments and size wise it'll suffice for my needs!

Anyone confirm my fears?

They dont want to fit it for you

Buy one and fit yourself

In reality you would probably not pay the price they want to fit it anyway, but yes it can be retro fitted - providing you do not have electric seats.

Cheers guys, it's an SE 2010 model with no electrics/Bluetooth gizmo's or ejector seats. Fitting wise I could probably tackle it myself but an an injury to my wrist prevents a lot of movement so would have at least liked to be given the option!

Buy the bits from the dealer/TPS and take it to your local independent if you can't manage it yourself. I've found TPS to be far more helpful than the dealer.

I wasn't very impressed with SG Smith. I ended up at Allams in Epsom. Much more accommodating.

They offered me a discount of £500 on a new car. I went to Allams, spent more and got close to the DtD price at the time.

I have bought stuff from them, but only when desperate.

Try another dealer. Or a local independent.

Allams fitted my large brakes for me. I gave them the parts. No problems.

If you follow the instructions on the supplied link you'll see it's quite an easy job BUT your injury will NOT make it so easy!

Full flexibility is essential.

GO AWAY BOB!

Unbolting the front seat runners and loosening the rear makes a big difference

Front seat runner bolts are very tight.

Best really to get the right Socket cheap on Ebay

I bought a set from Machine Mart
