Annoying squeal when accelerating and it's getting worse :(

Featured Replies

My Superb had 42,000 on it when I bought it last year, about three months in I noticed a very very quiet and slight squeak when accelerating. Usually only at speed like when overtaking on motorways.

Anyway, last few weeks the squeak has gotten worse and become more of a squeal but again only when accelerating and it also does it occasionally when pulling away.

I've been underneath and checked everything obvious but it all looks in good order, I did notice on the service history that its had quite a few cv boots n the last few years and I'm wondering how long they were left and if its caused damage to a cv joint?

Any ideas welcomed.

I would be checking the drive belt for the alternator first, tension and possible need for replacement.

Or any belts.

Thanks George,

Thing is it only does it when driving, I know the engine isn't under load just revving it.

The belt doesn't look the best though tbh, it's coming up to 50k so I was planning on servicing it and changing all the belts done anyway.

it will be your tensioner,as ur engine is under load as you speeding up!mine done the same,i have changed the tensioners and belts and is all goon now!
