Is my fly wheel on the way out?

Featured Replies

Got a fabia vrs and when I come off the clutch and put gas on there is a knocking noise. It doesnt do it all the time but there doesn't seem to be a specific time when it does it either. My friend is convinced its the fly wheel so thought id ask on here.

before changing flywheel it could be the lower engine mounting ( dog bone ) thats work causing excessive engine movement

How can I check this?

not easily the bush that goes soft is in a hole in the subframe a powerflex bush that you push in to the old mount is around £25 from awesome gti ( site sponsor) or a oem one around £45 new on ebay. The bush looks similar to the console bushed and goes soft causing excessive movement. you may be able to see if the engine has been banging on anything

ok mate i will have a look tomorrow. Think ill order one for the sake of £25. had a play with car earlier, tapping the throttle on and off while driving making the engine jolt back and forward and everytime there was a creaking noise so im guessing thats what it is. thanks for your help :)

its a case of prise old bush out with screwdriver clean up push new one in.

little bit more vibration on tick over but does the job well.....
