After refitting the clocks the ODO reset with 9017

Featured Replies

Hi

Quite new to this whole forum life but I'm hoping there is someone out there that could shed some light on this for me , I took the dials out of the octavia today and reflowed the soldier joints to get the clocks working again which has worked wonderfully :) but of a fiddle of a job when I don't exactly have the most steady hand in the world , but father refitting the clocks the ODO has decided to reset itself quite strangely I was assuming it would keep it in some memory somewhere and above the ODO I'm getting a read out of a 1 and then 9017 I've also had I believe 7017 pop up as well I'm not sure what this means or what to do about it because if I want to sell the car it's going to look a little dodgy presenting a car with 20 miles on the clock ,

Please help to put my mind at rest

Many thanks

Is there a digit missing?

Are you over 100,000 miles?

Does look odd though.

Ahh I think you may well be right because before taking it outit was at 168994 + the 23.4 = 169017. So at some point throughout the repair one of the digits has picked itself up and fooked off , thank u for solving that for me , now I just have to go find the little blighter and pop him back where he belongs , cheers :)

Hope you find it :)

Good luck

It's a tad dodgy but there are mileage adjustment services! Look on eBay normally for cowboys to remove miles but you could also correct you mileage

Does not need adjusting, its simply the top mileage display LCD has a connection problem to the mainboard and lost a digit as a result. It should be an easy fix as well, however it will involve taking the cluster apart again. IIRC the LCD needs to be removed, and the contacts cleaned on the board before re-assembly.

Right well I took it out again and found the problem , I had not twisted one of the metal clips round behind the circuit board therefore it wasn't pushing against the contacts enough so after doing that it had fixed the issue of the missing digit but now my original problem which I had resolved had now returned , I now have no dials again , I now believe that It may be an optional extra for my car , either have a working ODO or have dials , she's gotta good handful of issues with her anyway ill just move onto something else until I'm just left with that issue
