How to remove the peg holding the spare wheel in place?

Featured Replies

As the title say, how do you remove the peg holding the spare wheel in place?

I tried for ages yesterday and it seemed the only way would be to break it.

Im hoping to use the area as an earth for when I fit my 2nd battery. Can anyone shed any light on it for me?

screw it to the left

I'm assuming you mean the threaded rod that the knob screws onto?

Have you looked from underneath the car?

apologies I thought you were trying to remove the spare wheel! isnt there better earths on the inside of boot carpet above the wheel well area

Push down and twist.

There are indeed earthing points (2, possibly 3) by each wheel arch.

As far as I recall there aren't any in the spare wheel well: they'd be in the way of the wheel and visible to the user (which they shouldn't be).

the oem earth points are quite a long way from where my battery will be. It will be 2 0awg (50mm2) cables going from the battery to earth point so Im sure the oem points wont really be up to it
