pd tdi 130 tuning box on ebay...?

Featured Replies

I've got one of these and it's the best 30 quid I've spent on the car. 5 minutes to fit and results are very noticeable. Only thing to note is that it can/will cause the engine management light to come on in '04 onward cars. This doesn't indicate a problem (and can be cleared with VAG-COM) - it's just the ECU getting confused by the sensor's signals.

Mine has been on the car for 20k miles and my economy has improved slightly and I've had no problems with smokiness.

In fact, my tuning box will be up for sale shortly when the car goes! :D

chris - u have pm

I fitted one last week, see my thread "cheap tuning box-performance figures" posted on the 3rd june.Sorry don't know how to make a link.Best 32 quid i've ever spent...a bit smokier though...

Be Careful. Post 2004 VRS engine management light comes on and car goes into 'emegency' mode ie slow. Has to be sorted by maindealer or friend who has VAG COM.

U can get a digital tuning box for around 160 quid on ebay auction. much better, no probs on mine for 10k so far.

Both of these on e-bay are the analogue ones......basically a resistor but they do work quite well....i did have one of the type in the first link and didn't have any problems with it or engine management ...but it's a bit naughty claiming dragon sell them for that amount.... they are on there for about

Don't buy one!!

I'll be posting the schematic and component list shortly. There is about 20p of components inside!!

ok cheers guys! - ive just ordered a cotton green air filter... and my friendly seat dealer are getting pd160 intakes on friday - so i may just wiz along to get one next week! AFTER MY 10K SERVICE!

Has n e one taken their car in for a service with filter and intake still installed? if so... were they chhesed off etc?

Mine is a Dragon Digital box. Works well, unlike the cheapo resistor mod.

Bought for

They don't check the filter on the service!

I had some sticky tape along one edge of the air box as the green cotton filter wasn't sealing properly, that was still there after the service.

I doubt whether they noticed the 160 intake I had fitted either.

Cheap mod (pikey mod). Try taking the LH fog light cover off the front bumper, it covers the intercooler. If you like the effect, take the excess plastic off the grill pattern.

does the dragon digi box give smooth power increase? or does it sink you back in to your seat? what setting is urs on? i know they recomend leaving it on 11!

Power is still gut renching, but lasts longer I would say. virtually no smoke if you put your foot to the metal. Car idles better too. 2005 model, so no fault codes.

I used 11 at first, then tried 16 (top setting) didn't really notice a difference so I have put it back to 11.

I change my car every two years, I also think the digital box will be more 'saleable' when the time comes. probably get half the money back after a couple of years use, approx

Chris knows how well it goes  ....so do a few others i have gone past:D

It goes so well it's .... er .... gone ;)
