Fabia:Comfort - Water Leaking

Featured Replies

Hey Briskoda people.

Okay heres the problem. The rear windscreen wiper spray is leaking. Firstly the tubing at the front of the car was loose and didnt spray any water at the back, so I found where the tube was loose, so i just plugged it back in. Now that its hooked up again, I try and spray water at the back, but nothing. I then notice that the water is leaking in the boot door. I tried trying to take off the grey backpanel from the boot door, but have no luck. When I open the boot door, the water starts dripping from it. Im just worried that it might short circuit something?!? i.e break ligh or the registration plate light. Does anyone know how to take off the backpanel? I prised a little gap and saw that its held with loads of clips or something like that. I live in Essex, Basildon and have no idea where the closest Skoda Garage is. There used to be one at Wickford and Southend, but they are both gone.

Cheers!

Rich

You need to prise quite hard to get the panel off, but its fairly strong so don't be too worried about breaking it, be careful though don't flex it too much.

You need to pull the back panel off and pop the pipe back on the wiper motor.

I don't know where to prise  n what shall I use to prise? I don't want to break the panel  coz its my mums car. If anyone can take a quick snap shot of the panel and just edit it in paint with points I need to prise, it would be great. If no one can be assed to take a photo, ill take one tommorow some time. I really need to sort it out cause, when I open the boot, all the water flows to the top part of the panel (break lights) and starts to drip inside and onto the speakers

I prised mine on the side about half way down with a screwriver (end covered in masking tape to avoid scratching), just enough to get fingers under, then pulled it inch by inch around, You have to work round the bottom edge. If I remember it has clips that hold it in place with the other trim bits that lift out when the rest is free.

I had a go just earlier on. From what I saw, I thought you have to take the top piece off (brake light) then the middle bit and finally the big bottom bit due to the overlaps on the joints. I pulled the top piece off a little bit and one clip unclipped, but didnt pull the whole thing off. Now im trying to put that 1 clip back in, but ive tried pushing it with lots of force but it doesnt seem to want to clip itself back on. Do you have to used a hammer or something? Ill have a go tommorow with your instructions. Cheers Grant

No, they do go back on quite easily, or with a bang with your fist. :)

The clips do come off the trim easily and stick in the body work. You'll have to prise these put with a couple of screwdrivers. Can be a pain. :(
