16" wheels over 312mm brakes

Featured Replies

Quick question,

Do all 16" alloys fit over a 312mm brake setup. Obviously the standard vrs alloys do but I am looking at changing to some 16" audi wheels so was just wondering if there would be any issues?

Many thanks as always

Which ones?

Yes, minimum wheel size for 312mm brakes on all VAG cars is 16in. I run Mk1 superb with 312mm brakes and 16in.

The actual 16" rim will fit over, just be careful of the offset of the wheel. If the offset isnt enough when the wheel is fixed to the hub it might not clear. Most VAG OEM wheels should be fine, but it would be best to check the offset :)

Make sure the ET wheel offset is roughly right though (use spacers if neccessary).

Some stretch bolts can be reused. U will just have to get info off the dealer to what is the tolerence they allow

bbs rx2's won't fit iirc though

Remember that the Audi TT came with 312 brakes and 16" wheels out of the factory!

As did the early Octavia VRS hatches and all Octy VRS estates.

As said though while 16s will clear the rim you will need to watch offset to make sure they clear spokes.

After all that though TT Comps will bolt straight on and straight over 312s without issue.
