Car manufacturers manipulating CO2 test results

Featured Replies

An interesting article on the BBC news website about officical emissions figures and how they are manipulated by manufacturers, which largely confirms what a lot of people have believed - some of the efficiency gains are genuine and some are not.

Well, they're not manipulating co2 test results, it is what it is within the rules.. what co2 tests represent is somewhat outdated simply. If they want to spend money to update the rules im sure manufacturers will find ways to get round it. At the end of the day, is it really all that important?

Its a bit like saying red bull is cheating because they have more tricks up their sleeves than HRT in F1, not the case (most of the time :D).

They are manipulating the results, as they are cars in a non-production state and then they are allowed to further reduce the figure by 4%.

I made the mistake of looking for a topic about cars in "general car chat" and not "Off topic" :)

Sorry, my bad, I only tend to frequent off topic these days.

And I was really only posting it as i get fed up with 'my car can not achieve the manufacturers figures'. Well guess what nor does mine, but I knew that even before i bought it :)
