2001 Fabia 1.4 16v Squeaking when pulling away or gear change

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Have a really annoying problem with the wifes Fabia. When she pulls away from stop, on or off the throttle whilst driving or changing gear, you are gettiung a constant loud squeaking noise coming from between the front footwell area. Im totaly out of action at present after an operation, so cant get under the thing at present. Iam thinking poss rear g/box mounting? Has anyone had a similar problem?

Cheers,

Clive.

Could be gbox "dogbone" rubber knackred but could also be the very common bottom arm "console" bushes..

My m+ds fabia had the same problem.. the console bushes looked ok and werent split but i changed them anyway because they were the old type + the noise stopped :)

Cheers for the reply and info. When you say the console bushes, are you talking about the rear circular bushers on the back of the wishbone?

Many thanks,

Clive

Hi, it sounds to me like the console or anti roll bar bushes. We have the same issue on our 02 plate Fabia & the local dealer advised complete replacement of the ARB? Still researching however as there's often more than one way to skin a cat so to speak! ;)

Hi there,

I managed to relace the ARB links and bushes just before my op, so they are all ok. May get the console bushes and gearbox mount done. then hopefully all will be sorted.

Id just get the console bushes to start with + see if that cures it ;)
