Hi, thanks.

mmm, where to start! I'll give you the story so far.

I just bought my 2004 vrs from a garage on saturday. i drove around 40 miles and stopped to fill up with fuel. When i got back in the car to start it, it was dead. All ignition lights came on, everything seemed perfect, but when i turned the key to crank the engine there was nothing. Everything was as it should be, battery fine etc. Its sat since then doing nothing. A local garage managed to start it so i could take it to the dealer to have the work done under warranty. After about 15 miles of driving, got quite a loud pop from the engine bay. The car behind then disappeared in the clouds of black smoke. The clutch is also slipping, and the ASR doesnt work.

For then non start issue, was advised maybe starter motor but not sure as there was no indication. Not too sure where to start!!

Have you had it hooked up to vcds? I'd be wanting to see what fault codes come up first.

What work was done under warranty?

For the not starting thing I know you said the battery was fine but did you have it tested for voltage? Id be checking that along with starter motor and alternator to rule them out. If they are all fine. Id be looking for a loose earth strap.
