2yr service plan

Featured Replies

Bought my car 2nd hand at 9 months had first service done b4 purchase took out 2 yr service plan took car in for 2nd ye service under plan got a call in mid of day from Gordon lambs chesterfield wanting to charge me over £ 150 to service air con and replace pollen filter and to remove rear drums and to coat rear brake pipes to stop corrosion I thought filter / rear drum would of been done under service plan apparently not had anyone else had a problem with service plans?

Generally I think the aircon service is extra, have had garages try to charge me for it in the past and always declined it. Corrosion protection of drums and pipes doesn't sound like a service item either, probably them trying to sell you their latest items under the guise of a service. Not sure about pollen filter.

Check the T + C's of the service plan paperwork you must've signed?

Pollen filter should be a routine service item I'd have thought, corrosion protection sounds like snake oil to me.

Lots or Service plans say things about replacement like,

Pollen filter, plugs, air filter as required.

Brake Drums should be removed and shoes inspected at 2 years/20,000 mile or Major service/Inspection service,

maybe not at Minor Service (oil/filter change)

What coating are they putting on 2 year old pipes?

I smear mine with good white grease, thats while the wheels are off and i am checking things.

30 seconds worth of nothing in cost

Flexy pipes i keep clean and put no grease on other than maybe Red Rubber Grease. not on a Skoda tho.

2nd or 3rd year your Brake Fluid will need changed, maybe at 2 years on your car.

That should be in the Plan.

Pollen filter is a standard service item at 2 years. Brake fluid now changed at 3 years then every 2 years after that.
