Octavia 1 1.8T missfire

Featured Replies

Hi all

I've got a missfire on cylinder 3 i recently changed the coils and plugs and still no joy and now cylinder 1 is also missfiring occasionly I'm gettin to my wits end I've swapped the coils around and the missfire stays on the same cylinders. I plugged it in and the throttle body and air flow meter came up but that shouldn't stop a spark should it? What should my next step be?

get it fault code read on vag.com

if you have the old type 1.8T drive by cable like mine then you have an ignition module located on the air box.

That might failed.

Wiring on top of rocker cover could be breaking down giving the random cylinder misfires

I started it up this morning and it was fine I drove about 20 miles to work turned it off came back a few hours later and it's back again I think it may be the harness

What engine code is it? Should be stamped into the block at the lower left hand side of the engine cover.

It's AGU

Does it run any better if you unplug the MAF sensor?

Mine did this a few years ago it was misfiring on all 4 cylinders. Turned out to be the maf sensor. Like previously mentioned try unplugging the maf just to see if it runs better. If it does your maf is goosed. Or maybe try cleaning it?

It's AGU

That means you probably have the older ignition system like Iulian said. Have you got a box on the back of the airbox lid? It may be that that has died.

He has the same iginition system like I do (AGU) with ignition module on the air box,but once this fails will act like hell with bad missfire all the time, and won't get better randomly
