Elec window fault.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Ive just had a brief look throught the posts on here and there seem to be many about windows opening themselves but mine have today become intermittant all together.

I was driving along (after about a 30ish mile drive) and I decided to open the drivers window however the passenger window went down! I closed this then neither window will go down. Only front are electric.

To complicate it, I stopped in a garage and as I left I opened the drivers window (auto-pilot!) and the window stopped itself half way down and the switches became inoperative again. I stopped at some traffic lights and just for the hell of it I turned the engine off and took the key out, restarted and was able to put the window back up!

This doesn't appear to be a fuse blown issue. Possibly a loose connector or is there a dedicated window controller that could be screwed?

Any ideas please?

Does anyone know of a member in West Somerset with VCDS?

Just about to check the battery voltage just in case, will post if an issue.

Many thanks.

Ok, up-date,

Battery @ 12.42v engine off 14v when running. Thinking this is not the issue?

I put the drivers window down when the engine was running (parked on the drive) and the auto didn't work. It wouldn't go back up however, when using the key hold trick (hold at lock = windows up. Hold at unlock = windows down. Learnt from these forums, Thank you.) the windows behave as expected.

Any ideas?

MAny thanks.

The switches themselves have been known to play up especially if they get abit of water in them, could be lots of things though, get the codes read see if there are anything stored would be the first step,

Just a quick up-date to this.

After struggeling to find a replacement switch without going to my local Skoda dealership I resorted to DIY. The switch came apart quite easily. What I did not expect was to find a SPIDER (dead) within the switch!! After a quick clean up of the contacts (and removal of said corpse) the windows returned to normal function!!
