Total Screw Up!! Need Help

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just made a classic school boy error. I've just applied T-cut to my octy with a dry cloth instead of a damp one. Really screwed it up. All hazy n dry!

Is there anything I can do????

Chris.

I would think a good wash off to clear all the t-cut, dry and quickly put on a GOOD polish ...... but hang around for a while for other ideas, somebody else may have already done the same and know different.

thank god its only a small area. Iv just washed the area and put a polish on to no good outcome.

Will i need to get the area resprayed or nefing?

its red. I think its taken a load of paint off though. Im gonna have to get it redone. Its a square patch, about 10cm x 20cm, how much you think it will cost?

chris.

If its just a haze or light swirl marks then something like zymol hdcleanse should remove it followed by some good wax... certainly a respray sounds a bit excessive!

cant imagine tcut would remove that much paint!

any pics of the damage?

T cut wont remove that much paint unless its been resprayed poorly before hand. Ive allways put t cut on with a dry cloth, then buffed it up with a good polish and soft cloth.

i dnt get why this has happened then, its just gone really fuzzy. Iv put some polish on and stuff but it just wont shine up at all

Ill have another go at it tomorrow i think

Bit the bullet here and get the T-cut out again. Start by wiping the surface over with white spirit (to remove any residues), then read the T-cut instructions carefully and do the job again but properly - is this a flat panel surface you were working on? If so you will not (by hand be able to take off sufficient paint to do down to base coat unless you rub like crazy for

lol, thats a great help thank you.

I just spoke to my dad, and he recomended using some meths, or white spirit like you suggested. I'll give that a bash in the morning and see what happens i think.

It is the area on the boot where it say "OCTAVIA", reason been i just removed those badges and decided just to polish that section as it was a bit dirty.

I'll let you know how i go on after tomorrow.

Once again, thanks

Chris.
