I'm buying a 60 plate fabia vrs with 14k on the clock for a little over £10k. Comes with 12 months skoda dealer warranty. Are these good solid reliable cars? I love the shape. How it drives. Everything about them I love. But when I've told people I get. Ooo wouldn't be my choice. Or i wouldn't get that. So some good but some bad. I need some reasurance :-)

How much is a new one ? 13 plate with the latest engine ? There are issues but that's not for me too say :) have you googled the 1.4tsi engine ? It's an awesome car no doubt but long term however after warranty needs a through check first before purchase, also check if there as been any issues previously with the car , possibly also the car is known here

The car is generally good.

Some use too much oil.

Many people are still hung up on the Skoda badge, they get a shock with the VRS performance.

try to speak to the previous owner? mine is a 60 plate with 46k, and I have no issues at all :) If you have a warrenty, don't stress, if it breaks just take it back :)

and come to the WSM meet at the weekend! lol..

If you like it and you feel you've got a good car at a good price then you're doing the right thing.

Who gives a **** what anyone else thinks?

But you'll probably find most Skoda owners are of that mindset.

Welcome to the forum.

Great cars,

but you had best have a look in the Fabia 2 section in Briskoda and see the issues some are having.

Remember these are the posts on iffy ones, not the many good ones.

I take it that you have the remainder of the Manufacturers Warranty from Skoda.

Is the Dealer putting an Additional Warranty on, or is it a Skoda Warranty.

That is enough to remove worry on the purchase.

Ask the Dealer & Skoda UK Customer Care if any Warranty Work has yet been done.

New engine recently or such.

Have them do the 2 year/20,000 mile service before you buy,

because that is between £175-about £220.

Yeah its been serviced so im good for a bit. Got 12 months warranty on the car. Just phoned up the dealer about the warranty work so am just waiting for them to ring me back. Will post results lol.

And ref the Weston thing im at work during the day but I will be able to come and play at night lol. I live in Weston so don't have too far to come :-)

No problems if it has had warranty Work.

Best to know if it has had Breather Mod, ECU upgrade, new coils or even a replacement engine.

Its just they are not Writting up Service books and a few have had new engines recently.

A good thing IMO that they were done properly, its just the Skoda has been dragging their feet untill the last few months with Customers problems with the cars..

Its good to know just whats done or not been done.

others have no problems in any way.

Some owners are moving on cars because of problems and not had the fixes done.

I have bought 2 rejects and they were great cars.

Great performance for the money and able to better 45 mpg,

or go as low as 22 mpg depending on what you are doing.

I really really did not like my Fabia vRS estate & got rid of after a few months.

However I did have use of the hatch for a while when mine was poorly and I liked that a lot.

If it's a good un then no doubt it will be a good choice for you....enjoy.

thanks George. I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. I guess mine will be doing 22mpg for the first few weeks lol. My fiat 500 was doing an average of 46 so won't be too much of a difference. But at least now I won't have to take a run up to overtake cars. :-) the dealer said it might have been a staff car. Whatever that means? Prob just been hoofed around everywhere.

Well in the end I had to ring the stealer back. And the only warranty work had been a central locking solonoid. So that's good news right :-D
