Go to any Tesco store and pick up a 55p value toilet-brush and throw away the holder.

I have used this sort of brush for a long time now (i re-new it regularly lol).

Because of the long handle and the size of the bristles, it is perfect for doing the inner face of the alloys.

Plus the bristles are stiff enough to remove the dirt but not that stiff that it scraps the paintwork.

Ta-dah! Perfect finished alloy. The detailing snobs might look down their nose at this idea but it really does work

Love this! Great idea. I recently spent £3 on an alloy wheel brush which is pretty pants because most of them have the bristles wrapped in a coil of metal wire! I know you can get the 'scratch free' ones with rubber caps on the wire but these a lot cost more than 55p..

Kudos.

Lol. That's ace. Same here I just spent £3.50 on an alloy wheels brush an it just bends ,

Be getting myself one of those baby's. :)

I gotta say your a bit of a legend arnt you. Thanks :)

Thanks for that..It looks a bit hard bristled , but will be OK for the inner areas

Good luck with it

Hmmm, who's a clever boy then! Like that a lot!!!!

Looking forwards to the next installment!! (I wonder what new ideas we will benefit from in the future? Great stuff!)

Will be buying one today! Can I point out that Asda sell the smart price bog brush for 53p so even better value than the Tesco bog brush!

Something polished bliss were selling a few years a bog brush only selling it for £40 lol.

Here a question....

Would you wash your cars body work with the brush?

No to bodywork, but why not use on alloys considering the abuse your wheels get on normal use-age anyway.Obviously the brush would be restricted to cleaning the wheels only!!!!!!

The IKEA one is 45p.

class! this has become a competition to see who can get the cheapest bog brush but at the end of the day if it does the job, why not :p never thought i would've seen such competitiveness over a bog brush on a car forum lol

Quite so Sparky but it is great fun(not a lot of it about @ the moment)

Has anyone looked for a second hand bog brush on ebay? Must be dirt cheap?

a word against alloy wheel brushes with rubber end pieces, I bought one a few years ago, a year later whilst using it the rubber end fell off, luckily I didnt scratch the wheel

So I'm all for the bog brush

95% of wheels are clear-coated i.e the same lacquer as your paint, using a stiff brushed primarily used to clean barnacles of your sh-it from the side of a pan isn't going to leave your wheels that bright and scratch free.

i now use these to clean my wheels... pricey yes but its something i enjoy is cleaning my car, i dont smoke drink or play with woman i clean my car.

Sorry if this topic isn't mature enough for you. As i said in my original post, i was using it for the inner face of the alloys which is not finished with clear lacquer but if you want to use what is basically a soft bog brush for £40 fill your boots.

If you mean the back of the wheel then yes it is lacquered,

Your picture shows you putting the brush between the spokes... in turn probably scratching the wheel, but if you want to be tight on looking after your .... fill your boots.

;)

Great idea mate but the OCD in me would not allow to use such a brush
