VRS on Fifth Gear (possibly old)

Featured Replies

Might be a repost, didn't churn much up in search. I thought 'you people' might enjoy it. Is on front page of Discovery UK's site at moment so might be new ish.

Haha not seen that before. "Beaten by a girl and it sucks" lol!

Cheers, good find.

New series starts tonight at 8pm on discovery channel? Sky+ box now set to record-series!

Watching now. Can't beat a bit of VBH ... *drool*

Nah! She is grotty.

Surprised the VRS could lift its back wheel on standard suspension. Looks to have lots of grip too, something I havn't felt with my VRS.

about to watch it!

She's nice girl to listen too but I prefer not to see her really :D

wasn't bad... but the comment she made about not being able to get off the line because its not a manual is *******s! she simply has no idea how to use a DSG..

EVERY DSG equipped car is faster 0-60 than their manual counterparts!

Cool video - never seen it before, cheers :)

Just confirming what us with DSG's knew already

difference is that golf doesnt spin up its wheels like the fabia does... i can be spinning in third trying to rocket up a road, grip is shockingly bad in the fabia (on the stock tyres i have anyway).

Clearly the DSG box is quicker, its been proven time and time again but in our little cars, its just crap with front end grip. Perhaps on a drag strip where they have sticky tarmac it might work much better. Otherwise you just waste all that power by melting the fronts :wall:

'No traction equals no action!'

A white van man can leave a BMW standing in some conditions.

Tyres are the secret to it all.

Very true with a DSG and a vRS.

This time of the year with the weather we have I am very positively surprised by the high levels of grip my baby is delivering. Iam on factory Dunlops. very noisy but grippy. Cold summer tyres on wet surface have no right to provide you with any comparable to dry summer grip levels, which is when all the cars are tested.

I only once understeered once into a round about but I had waay too much entry speed and was still impressed how smoothly and quickly it regained composure, no chassis rocking, no snap grip return - just keep the TC on and mash that trottle and electronics wil drive yout of the corner :D. I can't wait to some track time in June in Bedford (Briskie organised of course :) to have a go at it with TC off. When I tried TC off this winter the engine was roaring, tyres squeling faintly, fliccking up through the gears but the car was not going anywhere - probably lost 6 months of normal tyre life back then lol.

This series of 5th gear has been on for weeks. That was last nights episode.

tyres make all the difference ;) get something like federal RSR's on a hot day, and it will make no difference if your opponents have 4WD...

short vid of me jason and skud on an airfield from inside my car.... listen to it... (all I did was floor it in sport) just a few chirps, the perfect start, very little wheelspin,(but some, best way to get off the line quick) very quick takeoff , maxxis Z1 tyres, great on a hot dry day.(TCS off)

Keep it planted, I think we went to the same school of motoring..........

We will be sharing a session on the track, I have heard you can take camp corner flat.... Honest

I am really looking forward to CC, I know I will not be the fastest man on track as I have a standard car but who cares. See you there.

I am booked into Bedford too, I am leaving home at 5:30 and travelling back same day, maybe hook with some others heading down there.
