Boost leak.......what should I do?

Featured Replies

Well I'm having trouble with the 90 degree pipe that comes from the left of the egr valve. It keeps popping out every now and then and yesterday it came away that much it made a stupidly high pitch noise for a split second. I checked the turbo and it seems fine ( noise wise ) sounds very healthy actually. Just don't really know what to do about it. Just wondering if I take it to skoda will they charge out of their arse for it fixing? Here's a pic anyway , I tie wrapped it so it can't come away as often but it still manages to come lose y7ujyjuq.jpg. I'm guessing that the lugs are knackered on the pipe so or that the clip on the egr valve has worked it's way weak. What you guys think I should do? Cheers in advance. Oh and unless you have something helpful / productive to say then keep your opinions to yourself pkeaSe. Thanks

It's held together (rather flimsily i know) by what is essentially a piece of wire against 2 contact 'bumps' on the rubber pipe collar. Perhaps pop it apart again and see if the wire is bent or the bumps on the collar are worn/flat. It may be as simple as replacing the pipe or bending the wire. Then you can get rid of those ghastly cable ties

To check the wire you could open the clip, take off the pipe and move it out of the way so you can look down the EGR, the close the clip and see if the wire forms 2 straight interference points.

thanks mate I need to get under the bonnet on the weekend and have a proper look don't it. If I need new pipe or clip where should I get these from? Cheers

Try popping the part number into google or ebay mate. Someone on here might have one to sell after an EGR delete.

Got the part verified by my cousin who works at skoda garage. The pipe is going to cost 38 quid and the clips are a quid each so going to order them soon:-)

I had no idea they sold the clip separately, I assumed they would only sell a new ASV/EGR. Good news for you!

Does the stock pipe/clip show any signs of wear or weakness? Do you have an aggressive map? That may well be the cause.

Just do an egr delete, wont have the problem again then.

This might sound daft but you have got the clip on the right way, So it sits right? If not it will pop off. It will only work one way. Ive done this myself only recently . If your local I can look for u before u go spending money.

I haven't really had chance to have a proper look. Bonnets getting popped on Saturday morning so ill let you know. As for the aggressive map question I honestly don't know. I recently asked a question on here about it cause I do have a feeling it mapped. But a lot of people attacked me just because I said my car was capable of spinning the wheels up in 3rd

oh dear lol please dont start another wheel spinning thread lol ... you could always put self tapping screws through the pipe joint to hold it

I'm just going to buy the new part from skoda. At least then I know I'm getting what I pay for.

You might not need a new pipe. Like I say id check its sitting righr and that the clip is sat right. You could buy the new pipe and clip and still have the same problem. If you need a hand checking let me know. As mentioned I had this only a week or so ago.

I have just been out to the car and done a similar thing to this. The clip is on the right way but has got weak over time. So the pipe ain't moving anymore. Ordering the part on Friday to get it completely replaced.
