new tyres needed

Featured Replies

hi everyone just coming to the end of the tread on my michelin pilot sport 3, anybody got some ideas for my next set, these where a great tyres but a tad expensive, any ideas? cheers.

Maxxis Z1's :)

Depends how long you want them to last!

If you want them to last and grip in the wet, I had Uniroyal Rainsport 2's on my Scirocco (in fact 2 sets they were that good). I see Camskil do Yoko Paradas for the same money (£75 a corner)...which seem to be a match for the Toyo Proxes T1-Rs from those who have tried them?

Kumho ku39's great price and you wont be dissapointed, great grip, ride comfort and quiet. had them fitted to the front of my monte for about 3 months no complaints. lots of good reviews too.

Goodyear eagle F1's no question.

Had them on my golf for 26,000 miles and still plenty left.

Also great handling off them.

Maxxis Z1's :)

hi sharkrider how good are they heard some good things about them.

A few mixed views on here http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk but I suppose everything is subjective, I had Kumho KU39's on the rear of the Fabia for the track day and Avon ZZ3's on the front, they performed way better than the Dunlop SP01 Maxx tyres the car was delivered on.

Hankook v12 Evo for me. Well impressed with them. Quiet and more comfy than the original contis

I have the parada spec 2's on the front an hate them.the noise of them is so bad I though it was a wheel bearing. I'm looking at getting a new set so will be eagle f1 or Avon zz3

Sorry OT,

C1FLA, did you get the new engine fitted OK?

hi sharkrider how good are they heard some good things about them.

reviews here, including mine... http://www.tyrerevie...A-Z1-Victra.htm

they are a summer tyre, work best above 10 C work AMAZING on a hot summers day , the best I've had, and unlike some they still work in the rain too! they are a reasonable price, and wear reasonably well.... only downside is they are noisy... the massive shoulder blocks that just stick "slick style" on a hot dry road rumble like a bugger... but hoonestly the best "bang for buck" I have tried...

the place I normally get them from ran out and sold me some KU39's,(on their hearty recomendation) they gripped as well as the maxxis in the wet, but were literally, an APALLING 50% of the maxxis grip in the dry, they ruined my car! I was going to sell them on e-bay and buy more, but then I noticed how fast they were wearing... about 6k on the front of my vRS! :o

the maxxis suit it really well, strong sidewalls, progressive at the limit, and faster than parada 2's round the ring ;)

I will keep buying them until I find a better tyre. when my new car arrives, if it comes with the dunlops, I may well order 4 Z1's and sell the dunlops on fleabay, if it comes with the conti's I'll keep 'em on ;)

I too am looking for some tyres after idiotically doing some damage to the sidewall of one of my rear conti's with a decent amount of tread on!

Was about to go for the maxxis on shark riders recommendations but then saw these that are worth checking out;

Matador MP 46 Hectorra 2

(Found a recommendation on here from StuVRS so the credit for this goes to him!)

Regards,

Ben.

My Monte is due a pair of Fronts soon,

Its Currently on Conti Sportcontact 3,

They seem to of been replace by sportcontact 5s which are 100>120 a corner, and im hestitating about spending that per tyre.

Ive got say i feel like they been great,

Brilliant dry grip good wet grip but can feel a bit of slide on its wet grip over the last 10k, useless on any form of snow/ice lol

Id spend £120 if i had too, but it seems from your comments it would appear i should get something of equalish quality for cheaper.

For me it needs to have a decent wear rate, i want them to last.

Dry grip has gota be spot on (as thats when i push the car more) but at the same time wet grip

Has gota be up to standard, i dont want the wheels washing away at the sight of wet corner/roundabout

Whats your surgestions?

George.yes got it fitted with no problems and oil seems to be ok so far so fingers crossed.

Sorry OT,

C1FLA, did you get the new engine fitted OK?

Good,

Just take care this weekend with those tyres, it looks like being fun by tomorrow night.

Anything Quieter than the Dunlops fitted to my VRS?

The ear splitting drive around the bottom of the M25 (concrete) Is No Fun!

Hankook ventus v12 evo k110

Michelin have a £50 fuel card offer if buying 2 or more tyres 17" & over. Their website provides a search for participating dealers.
