My Octavia heater isn't getting warm, the header tank is fine for levels.

Something a friend noted the other day when following me home, my car produces a lot of vapour from the exhaust. Could this be related ?

What temp does it get to when driving and does it rise when stationsry? Sounds like thermostat is stuck open or opening too early.

Barely moves off the resting point. Even when stationary in traffic.

Almost certainly thermostat stuck open, or if you've only just got the car, possibly even removed by the previous owner.

Also, what sort of mpg are you getting, just in case we're wrong?

Only around 28mpg, 300 miles from a tank. And I don't drive hard.

The old story too - replace with a dealer supplied stat.
