Alloy centre caps

Featured Replies

Hi

What's the easiest way to pop out the centre caps on Neptune alloys without taking the wheels off? I have a set of new style caps that I would like to fit but want to make sure I get the old ones out without damaging them.

Thanks

B

The only totally safe way is to take the wheels off and push them out from the inside.

Anything you use to prise them off may damage either the plastic cap of the wheel itself.

If you look from behind you'll noticed that they are very well secured in place as once on they aren't really designed to be removed.

Cheers...thought that may be the case as the new ones look like they will clip in very tightly.

New ones going in are mega tight!!! I did mine with wheels off and was prob easier as a result for pushing new ones in as I could do it with wheel flat on ground facing up.

Look very smart. I am putting them on black neptunes.

I put the new style centre caps on my Fabia when i had the wheels re-furbished and i literally had to stamp the new caps in place. They were a real pain to get on.

Which ones are they and where did you buy them?

The part numbers are in the other thread the big one for the new badges, stoofa sent them over for me as my local dealer didn't seem to be able to see part numbers. Only one size/type for the centre caps Skoda wide I believe, which makes it easier.

***EDIT***

This is part no from other thread for the centre caps.

Did mine today.

Decided not to keep the old caps so drilled a hole in them so I could put a coat hanger in and pull them out ( to avoid damage to the black alloys). Then warmed up the new caps in hot water, lubed up the hole and they all popped in perfectly with very little effort. Clicked in nice and tight so shouldn't fall out. Took 10 mins in total and now the new black and silver caps look excellent with the black alloys.
