felecia over revving

Featured Replies

Hello,

My 1.3 1996 Felicia is over revving and struggling to go up hill. It used to over rev then the acceleration would suddenly kick in and all would be well again. Lately however it doesn't kick in and instead just struggles, over revving while taking longer than ususal to accelerate. It's even worse when going up hill, the car will go very slowly while revving excessively.

I'm hoping it's going to be a simple fix along the lines of a fuel line blockage, I fear it may be clutch related.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Sounds very much like a slipping clutch, though a Felicia clutch is one of the easiest FWD clutches to replace

If it's gradient linked then tend to agree with Dave  & a rev counter, if you have one, will give you a visual of this.

You can do a simple test to know how worn is your clutch.

EricTheCarGuy explains it very good in the video below.

Do the test in a safe place, on plane ground, nobody in front of the car (well, maybe your mother-in-law).

I agree that is sounds clutch related, but I'd check the cable adjustment before spending out on a clutch kit.

its your clutch my 2 lady owner donnor car did this and did it when i converted mine fitted new clutch and problem solved

Back around the end of last year I was expecting a clutch change as was experiencing some intermittent slip, albeit not that bad. Oddly enough over the last couple of months it's disappeared so thankfully not clutch o'clock just yet!! :smirk:
