Extra gauges - what's best?

Featured Replies

So after people's advice on here I've decided to install an oil temp, oil pressure and voltmeter under the stereo. My latest question is, if the pressure gauge is electric is it better to use a sandwich plate and connect both to the oil filter or do people advise otherwise? It seems on the web that a lot of people seem to have leak problems around the plate?

Thanks again in advance

Paul

I have some gauges for sale, they are out of an Audi Quattro, they are also mounted on a back plate too.

Another quick, easy question - what ampage does the wiring need to be for the three gauges - would ordinary 5 amp wire be sufficient

Thanks

5 x 12 = 60watts (of lighting) power, therefore I would have thought that 5A cable would be more that sufficient, as that would allow for back lighting of 20watts per gauge (which is more likely to only be a few watts).

Thanks very much for that - being a non-sparky I wasn't sure - think I've got some double speaker wire somewhere

Thanks again

I quite often just run a length of bell style speaker cable in - saves me having to find an earth point nearby too :-)

Lloyd have you used the Glowshift sandwich plate too? Is what I'm fitting next when I get time then getting the gauges bought.
