Forgive me if I'm relating the obvious here but your description of the problem was rather brief. I presume you've checked and found the latch mechanism is jammed - i.e. the latch doesn't go in when pushes with a finger? And the interior release doesn't do anything and/or feels different? You might be able to get to the inside of the wing by pulling back the boot trim - but I haven't tried so don't quote me. If the latch is still working' date=' then it suggests a small stone or the like wedged in there somewhere. [/color']

I see to remember someone else having this problem or was that that it wouldn't open?

Could the cable have come out and in some way have stopped the latch from connecting.

My 418 does this on all of the release's (Boot/Fuel/bonnet) just check to make sure the release lever has caught on anything. If that does cure it try having a look at the catch they may be some dirty/grit which could have jammed it up.

Behind the trim panel next to the rear lights from the boot area you can gain access to the cable that works the flap. It probably has come out of its clip' date=' just need re clipping back in and all should be fine.

I tried everything else so it must be this...

I see it came under 'Fuel flap' that would be why my search of 'Fuel cap' didnt amount to anything

Thanks for your advice everyone

I once saw my filler cap wouldn't shut and it turned out something behind the boot carpet, on that side, had come adrift whilst I was padding out with matting and stuff... Hope this helps in some way. :)

This was VERY VERY common not long after the Fabia`s was launched.

2 things it could be

1) The material on the cap warpes with heat.

There was a way of heating it and bending it back to shape.

Or replace the cap.

2) The clip has come out at the back.

The rear trim has to be moved to get at it , but not a big job

The clip at the back had come undone on mine when it was sound proofed. Dealer clipped it back free of charge.

The design has changed apparently in the way the cable is routed, but for the rest it is pretty much a spring-loaded clip - the pin goes into the flap and that should close it up again.

Sorted today.

It was the clip at the back, very easy to fix, probably about 30secs :D

Thanks for the advice :)

Just had the same problem today as Walkie, fixed thanks to this thread

Nice one - dunno how they come undone though, mine was caused by fitting soundproofing so the cable just got moved, but it shouldn't normally come out?
