HEAD GASKET

Featured Replies

The head gasket has been diagnosed gone on my Fabia vrs has gone is this a common think on these engines .

Not heard of it being a 'common' thing. Is it definitely the HG?

The initial thought on my fabia was HG failure and it turned out to be a blown radiator....

Hi Johhny yes it is pressurising the header tank just hope the head is mot cracked .

I've heard of a few on this forum, mostly on petrols so wouldn't say it's common.

Any idea what's caused it? It's usually overheating so low/no coolant or a failure of the fans etc...

mine is the same if i drive it sensible it doesnt empty and put the light on for about 2 weeks but boot it and 5 mins it on lol.. im planning on doing mine soon put away around £500 mate

Not entirely uncommon!

The pd150 arl uses better head bolts so after replacing gasket get some of those and it should be future proof

Researching common PD failings recently (to see if I stick with the vRS or sell) I have found quite a few reports on what people refer to as "slow failure".. When it fails between cylinders.. Apparently, the most obvious sign is coolant loss due to it boiling over from the expansion tank.

Head Gasket, Cam shaft, DMF,.. These are the bills I hope don't come to quickly after my turbo.

Mine went about 70k miles ago, its not been a problem since. It was £590 to fix.
