Check deadlock

Featured Replies

I'm sure someone can help. Whenever I turn the ignition off the maxidot displays shows

" check deadlock owners handbook"

I have read and read the ******* handbook and can't find any reference as to this.

It' must be a setting somewhere but don't know what. Help would be appreciated.

When you lock the car (one press) this enables the dead locks.

The message is more of a reminder that if you have people in the car and you press the fob once the deadlocks will be on. Therefore in an emergency the occupants would find it harder to get out of the doors due to the extra locks.

If you press the fob twice this will keep the car alarmed but disable the deadlocks.

In other words, ignore it.

It looks like a warning message but it's just telling you not to lock people in the car with one press of the key.

Thanks guys. Just wasted 2 hours reading the manual and trying to change settings. Thought it was a warning message rather than reminder.

Yes you are totally correct, but I was also confused about it until the dealer explained via a phone call. No mention in the manual and Our Octavia does not show this message when the key removed, it must be an update for later models.

Phew!

Another one of those embarrassing questions I don't need to ask any more! :giggle:

Got the same on my Superb.....couldn't find anything in the manual either, except that one press does deadlocks

Yep. What Graham said. I found a reference in the locking and unlocking section of the manual but the phrasing is so poor that it took three reads to really understand what they meant.
