OK. my website is now up and running but how do you get google to list you in their results?

please be critical gentle as I am NOT a web designer, but any issues that you spot I am grateful

You are doing it :)

This site will be crawled, as will others where you link it and it will be found by searches based on the context you post it in.

With google you either pay, or use clever SEO to attract the google spiders

It takes time... Links help but noot too many, and get similar companis to link. If google thinks you are over advertising you get blacklisted. Just have the right words at the beginning of the page, in the title and in the description, it will come up. Wouldnt bother with SEO's if you can keep plugging away.

Surely an IT company would know that...? Bit like BP asking if a diesel will run on WVO?

As mentioned above lots of ways to get your site listed, some free, some paid. Google change the criteria for what they do and don't like every so often so you have to keep reviewing things. Just as your business is about IT support there are lots of SEO businesses out there each with there own way to get your site noticed.

You also might want to spell check your pages as I found a typo

15 years spent in the hositality industry

Good luck with the business

well spotted and thank you. Just need some more customers now :D

Been in IT a while now, last post for two years as Technical Manager but circumstances transpired to get me set up on my own and going for it 100%. Scary having to learn all the business stuff as well though :D

as said decent links......aannndd Patience...it takes while unless you want to pay...and although people forget ...make sure the web address is on ALL your paperwork/advertising/vans/cars etc. etc.

OK this thread shows up on google straight away if I search for blackbridgeitsolutions.co.uk but the domain doesn't. how does that happen so quick?

I emailed Google,

" Dear Google,

I have been searching for my website on your search engine, it would appear your search engine is not very good as it can't find it. my website is www.ucaptured.co.uk ......"

Within 20 minutes my website was number one in the list when searching for it!

Another typo:-

We can provide Epos systems from a single stand alone to a multi-till mutli-site

Nice layout though.

Not necessarily! Two completely different fields. The internet and websites are nothing to do with computer, network techie stuff as such.

More like expecting your detailing company to remap your car.

IT includes hundreds of specialities and nobody knows them all.

Thank you very much, I was quite impressed that I managed to pull it off as web design is most definately not my bag. However I am good at copying code and getting it to work (when I need to). Mostly I deal with servers and networking and the beloved "end users" :D and thanks for the typo. I like the Microsoft method of debugging :D

Pay them basically. If you want to get high up it costs money.

There are companies that specialise in trying to get you up the search rankings but it's a black art. Google changes how they do it all the time.
