Brake pad issues

Featured Replies

Hi guys my brake pads need changing so I went to a local parts supplier and they gave me the wrong ones but by the time I went to fit them they were closed so I went to halfords and they gave me the wrong set too has anyone else had this problem it's just unusual for two companies to supply two different types of pads which are both wrong

Thanks for any advice given

Best try your local dealer as std brake pads are cheap anyway. Halfords wouldn't have a clue on such a technical purchase like brake pads. Ok for car shampoo I suppose.

Yeh I was desperate Hence the halfords trip lol but yeah I will try a local dealer

Do you know the history of your car? It may not have the brake set-up it left the factory with.

Didn't know the history but the penny dropped and it turns out it has the 312 set up on

+1 to that ! Although I got a nice suprise finding out mine had heated seats, cruise control and a 6 cd changer, and this was after I had purchased it, robbed the dealer a bit :)

The only nice surprise I got was mine didn't need console bushes ad even after 10k they're still okay touch wood! I did find a quid under the seat though lol

It was defiantly a nice surprise considering I was going to upgrade at some point I got told it was a standard car when I got it to find out it was remapped with pd160 intake egr delete and now the 312 brakes so happy bunny really :)

I bet it's been remapped too if it's had that kit on. Don't they need a remap after a egr delete?

Not sure about the egr but it was Deffo remapped down side was it was a bad map and it started to push the head off me block so I had to take it to mb Motorsport and got:

Pd 150 head set put on

New cam runners

Water pump

Timing belt

New jabba sport remap

Which set me back £1000 but was well worth it its an awesome car to drive now

Hi Mate,

Sounds like you have my old car, SP55 RVR?

You might be interested to know it had a new turbo at 80k too after the original imploded on itself. It had a map on from PD Tuning (avoid at all costs! As you found out), which I had removed after the turbo blew and a Jabba map put on with the EGR light mapped out. Looks like the bad map damaged the head too, although it never showed any symptoms while I owned it.

Your right I put the 312mm kit on it, PD160 intake with a pipercross panel, EGR delete (with cleaned out intake manifold). It also had a leon splitter on the front when I sold it.

I looked after the car very well, just a shame about the bad map it had for a while.

Ah yeah it's your old car then mate it is spot on the car like you say was a shame about the head but these things happen. I got told the car was standard till I drove it and got it home score for me I suppose but what you have done to the car is spot on its everything I wanted to do so it's saved me some money the only other thing iv done is lower it and decat it but its still pulling really well so I can't complain

Both things that were on my list to do, but I changed jobs so my commute went from 70 miles a day to 2. Got myself a Clio 172 instead from the same garage I traded the Fabia in at. I never told the garage about the mods as knew they would try to knock the value down, but knew that whoever bought it would appreciate them.

The cars pulls very well, quicker than my 172 is that's for sure.

Yeh that guy I bought it off said you were quite particular with what you wanted with your Clio which is what help me buy it because it was in brilliant condition but don't worry it gets well looked after as I'm a spray painter and hate having the car dirty lol by the way when you replaced the turbo was it a standard one put back on ?

Yep just a replacement standard item. Thought about a second hand PD150 turbo but got a good deal on a new standard one.

I spent about 40 minutes looking over the Clio before even taking it on a test drive lol.

Did you notice how clean the seats were on the Fabia? I took all of the covers off, washed them and put them back on. What a pain getting the hog rings out, but I put it back together with mini zip ties, so if you ever wanted to wash them again it will be a lot easier for you!

Ok no problem just so I know

And well yeh you have to be sure about it before you buy it, saying that as soon as I put my foot down it was sold

And as for the seats there due a clean again what a pain they are to try and keep clean my friend valets cars so its his job to do now
