Dashboard Debris

Featured Replies

Every now and then, little specks of what appears to be black plastic shavings cover the top of the dashboard. The specks are really small and fine and I'm just not sure how they end up inside the car. The car belongs to my wife and she's owned it since August. It's always parked beside my Yeti but I don't have the same problem. At first, thought it was being drawn in from outside but I'm now starting to think that it's some form of residue plastic that's been left inside the heater/air intake during manufacture. Any suggestions.

I've noticed this as well, and it has to be coming through the windscreen demist vent. It seems likely that its plastic residue from the air ducts. I have also wondered whether this is related to the poor demisting performance by restricting any drainage ducts in the system.

Maybe the thing to do is to leave the blower on full speed for 30 minutes and try to get it all out, and the pollen filter may need cleaning up.
