My Golf had the VRS Turbo (Asz) turbo installed ? SOS to all fabia owners :)

Featured Replies

Hello,

New here from Ireland :) Removed my turbo the last day out of my Golf to discover it was a KKK (GB50061038 00328 , KP39B-0012, 038253016 SV120) from a skoda fabia ?? Now I going to keep it and refurbish it and keep it however when it was working there was always a leak in the intercooler piping and I had to do a "cowboy" job on pipes to get them to fit correctly now I know why, because the Garret ASZ golf turbo has different pipes to the KKK ASZ fabia VRS turbo....anyone know what pipes I need to change to to get the KKK turbo to work correctly or will I just revert back to the proper Garret turbo that is meant to be in it ?? :) Thanks :)

i thought the golf garrett turbos were plug and play on the fabia ??

Just clock the turbo 180 degrees on the manifold! Simples

It bolts on and everything its the pipe going from the turbo to the Aluminum pancake pipe that wasnt matching up and I had to do a "cowboy" job on it to get it to fit correctly

As far as I know there has to be a bit of modification done on the intercooler piping ??

Going to just bump this up, need info asap as car is sitting in Garage, Thanks :)

If it was me I'd go back to the Garrett turbo, less hassle and allegedly much better quality

Jase you've got the cars the wrong way around.

What you say is true - you need to clock the housing on a Garrett to get it to fit on a Fabia.

Here however we have a KKK on a Golf.

As said the inlet (or outlet i can never remember which) pipe from the turbo points the opposite way on a Golf Garrett turbo.

To fit a Garrett to a Fabia you have to unbolt the housing and turn it round to get the pipes pointing the right way.

The Fabia KKK turbo has a solid housing so can't be rotated which, I guess, means someone has had to bodge some new pipework to get everything connected on your car.

If you've already got a KKK on the car with bodged pipework and it works why have you removed the turbo?

If you wanted the easiest fix yes buy a Garrett but you will then have to un-bodge the pipework and who knows what's been changed

Pasty has got it spot on. I tried to fit the turbo pipe and pancake pipe off a golf to mine over the weekend as I thought it was leaking boost and the pipes don't match up. I am thinking of borrowing the garret turbo though lol
