how often change fuel filter?

Featured Replies

How often should the above be done?

Are third party non oem makes like coopers fine?

Cheers

I change them every 10k miles.

Should be good for 12 month / 12,000 miles though.

I will check tomorrow and see what the dealer manual recommends.

Fuel filters every 10k..? Sod that. Slight overkill!

I know I know, force of habit from the sdi running on chip fat oil...

Costs about £6 for the filter so change it at every service, like to keep things running smooth :)

Every 40k.

I think it's every 20k as it's part of the 'major' service.

My service record says mine hasn't been changed for 40K. It will be getting changed soon with a service!

I think 40k on cars without pickup fuel pump in the tank is pushing it, you want good flow of fuel to the engine. I do ~30k miles change, and always just before winter. On cars equipped with pump in the tank, I'd run it to whatever is the current Skoda recommendation, e.g. 56k miles/90000km for latest 150bhp 2.0CR diesel.

From memory it's 40k on a 1.9PD, i'd assume its the same for an SDI, I can't remember the interval in the book for a petrol but at 21k/12 years old my car was still on it's origional till I changed it.
