Intermittent HID Fault

Featured Replies

OK it looks like I've got an intermittent fault on my 50w HID retro-fit kit. The nearside dipped beam keeps going out - sometimes over bumps and sometimes when it feels like it

I'm guessing this is either bulb or ballast but not sure which so any easy way of checking or am I best just buying a whole new kit?

Car is an 07 and coded so no need for a canbus kit but I have heard 'Londoncolour' stuff mentioned as eing decent quality before now...

Any recomendations?

edit - just thought if I swap the ballasts over and the fault swaps sides does the it's the ballast yes?

Swap the ballast over, if the fault follows then that is the issue. If its the bulbs, I would say change them in a pair as there is some variation in colours across different brands.

I can vouch for the Londoncolour kits. For £28 they are great.

swapped the ballasts today and still the same side with a fault so I'm guessing a new set f bulbs are in order...

Had a mare with the white retaining nut as well - it uscrewed the threaded plastic bolt from the headlight (the one that aligns the headlight to the bodywork) when I undid it. Ended up trying to glue the alignment bolt back in place and then re-align the headlight after refitting...
