I don't know if this is normal but the backlighting of the instrument cluster (IC) (Speedo, fuel gauge & rev counter) are not always on? When you start the car they seem to be off, then driving off sometimes they are on. when its dark the IC back lights are off (lights switched off). Are the IC lights controlled by the amount of outside light? or is my car doing something strange?

Think I read somewhere (possibly on the up! forum) that there is an anbient light sensor or similar on the dash which detects different light levels so no I don't think you have a problem.
