Lights back on, VCDS cable link please

Featured Replies

This morning my car was quite hard to start, never had this issue before. Once it did eventually start i had the flashing glow plug light and the engine management lights came one. (yes i did let the glow plug light go out, and the starter motor was turning freely+ i bought a new battery the other year bosch S4 so i know its not that)

I have had these lights come one before but only while i have been driving, causing it to cut out. which has been fun. I could usually tell when this would occur as the engine acts as though it has had a slight miss-fire. Once the lights come on the car drives fine, no more mis-fires/no loss in power/indication it is in limp mode.

I only ever get this issue when it is cold, although it can occur on one day when the previous has been much colder and behaved without any issues.

I had the code read once and it came back as cam/crank sensor, i had the cam sensor done at this time but still get this problem when it is cold (and as its not consistent it's very hard to recreate).

Therefore i have three questions:

1-any ideas?

2- can anyone with a VRS (ASZ) and a VCDS cable send me the link where they purchased it from so I can double check the code its displaying without paying out £30 every time.

3 - after reading other threads, i thought it might be the valve timing, does VCDS lite show the cam position so it can be adjusted as per this method

Thanks in advance, Kyle

1) no

2) Google "ilexa" - my VCDS came from them

3) I would doubt it as its very limited in capability

I could send you a link but I don't have a vRS or an ASZ engine :(

i just got a cheap genetic cable off ebay, £6 delivered which works fine with vcds lite on my 06 fabia (blt) engine.
