Hi, i've had my Octavia vRS since September 2001, it's an amazing car.

I've owned quite a few cars/sports cars, and i will never let go of my beloved skoda.

I've had nothing modified on the car, because it just does not need it, i had it clocked at 171.2 MPH, yes MPH.

My previous car list includes TVR Chimera, Tuscan, Cerbera, and a Tamora, but got completely fed up with thier customer service.

Saxo, Laguna, and BMW 318i, BMW 330ci, BMW 523i, BMW M3 convertible & a BMW 745i.

As i said, i've had a few cars, and the only cars faster than the skoda were the TVR (except Chimera).

I'm new to this site, just found it accidently while searching the web, but it looks good from what i've seen.

Was that 171.2 MPH down a very steep hill with a tail wind following an extremely fast HGV to negate wind resistance?

Hi, it was clocked down the mulsane straight at le mans, with a hand held radar gun.

I know i could not believe it either, the speedo was way off the clock. I know the speedo is not that brilliant at telling what speed your actually going. So you don't have to say i'm stupid!!!

I had nearly an empty tank of petrol, and only me in the car, i weigh 77kg, with all seats and carpets in place, nothing modified with the car at all.

I remember autocar could not believe the speed of thier first car they tested, but their second car acted more like the bhp/torque figures actually stated.

I've only ever seen one other octavia RS (when in my octavia) on the motorway back in england a few years ago, he wasn't hanging around, he must of went past me at about 110* (i was doing about 80* speedo indicated), and i caught up with him and the shear acceleration of mine was far superior.

*obviously speed indicated are kph units for legal reasons ;-)

That's equivalent to 7045rpm in 5th.
