Weitec GT and KW 1 Owners look here...*NEW QUESTION*

Featured Replies

... what height have you guys got yours set at? As in where are the spring holders set at. And what does it relate to in ride height, and any pics?

Alot of questions i know but would be a great help :)

I have KW V2's and set low. Fronts have around 18mm of thread left and rears have around 6mm thread left.

The ride is quite hard as you could imagine being that low, but this is how i prefer it . Not uncomfortable hard though. My weitec could never give me same comfort that low they were quite crashy TBH.

few pics.

I had mine set so with std wheels on the front you could see the holder above the tyre. Ans the rears were set to the top so tge holder and inner were level.

Lovely and firm not too low and ride was nice and the handling was spot on compared to 10mm lower. Even a few turns up on the weitecs made a big difference in ride and handling

Lol prob mate. Tad lower than std on rear and 10-20mm lower on front

Yup looks about right at the front, bit lower on the back due to the tool box lol

Bowders1, definatly not going that low! Does look good but not what im after.

Billy, that sounds like what i will go for, don't want it low, rear only needs a tad drop and the front 20-30mm. They are to balance the car out as i think its arse heavy as standard. Main reason is to stop the wallowing!

I have billy's old weitecs and they are set as billy had them, my best description of them are like audi sports suspension, nice and firm but not harsh at all. My wife noticed straight away when I fitted a rare but she still hasn't realised that I've fitted coil overs, thank god! lol She just wants thinks I fitted new bushes!

On kw v1's

Around 5mm left at front (can't really go any lower anyways as the adjuster ends up fouling the abs sensor wiring

On the back the adjuster was about 10mm of the stop

I went for the nose down look

Raf_ in in the same situation, hoping swmbo wont notice, but going to give it the whole its all down to the new bushes, which i have so technically right :)

Bowders1 yeah that's cool mate thanks for the pics and its just down to personal taste, i have had many cars where its been slammed but not the aim this time.

Big jase, thanks for pics :)

Will have a play once they are on, which will hopefully be today :)

Ok, so just been cleaning up and putting the coilovers back together. So the fronts have the allen key to stop adjusting platforms from moving, but there doesnt seem to be any on the rear? How do these lock to stop moving when fitted?

Voodoo whoo doo :D

My kw's dont either bud

The back springs don't move because they sit there and just move up and down, the front need to have a grub screw to secure the platform because the spring moves with the steering so the platform wound move left and right and could adjust it self if not held on place.......I think :)

MR G, that makes sense to me!

Lloyd do yours adjust on the back without having to drop the rear beam?

Running Weitec's. The rear spring seat top is flush with the top of the threaded tower (highest setting with full thread engagement), then the front is set slightly lower. Measured and set it up on a perfectly flat workshop floor. I wrote the ride heights down somewhere years ago!

Perfect height Bodge mate love it

as MR G said mate,

I used 1 lap of insulation tape on my rears. put collar where you want them then wind up a few more turns, put 1 (only one or it wont work)loop of tape round then screw the adjuster back down, it will be very stiff. level off again n sorted, wont move. shouldn't anyway but I did it just in case.

Well i wasn't far off! Ended up winding the back up about 5mm and the front down about 5mm.

Will post some pics in build thread dependent on how they look as taken on phone in bad light!

Had abit of a heart stopping moment when the jack decided to give way, but thankfully had a 2nd jack under so ended up sat on that!

From then on it was gently does it :|
