Car`s telling me it wants a service @ 29'000 miles. Is the 30k service a big or small service?

It's a smallen, the large ones are every 20K I think.

Yep, nothing painful this time around. They'll probably tell you that you need a new cam belt the next time though (even though you won't need one)

I'm not fully sure but I know the interval for CR engines is way longer than for the PD lumps - the VAG recommended interval for PD engines is 40k or 4 years!! I didn't bother at 4 years (when my 1.9 PD had done 32 k) but did get it changed last month (my car's fifth birthday) when it had done 41K.
